What's Been on My Mind?

Okay, I know I said I would do some media fast reflections, but I don't really want to talk about those. Maybe I'll touch on that topic later. Today, I wanna talk about a few other things.

Firstly, a poet named Jack Ridl came to my creative writing class today, and he shared some things that I wanted to write about. The first one is "try to create a really good with." At first, I was confused as to why he said "with" was the greatest word in the english language. But then he explained. You are always "with" some one or some thing. It's interesting because it's true. It's hard to describe anything to someone without also saying who you were with. For example, this weekend I was at Forensics State (forensics is a speaking competition) with my team, my coach, and a few teachers. Or, yesterday I went to get ice cream with my sister after school. Or, I didn't dance with my partner yesterday. That's really interesting. Then he said that he wanted to try and create a really good with. What I think that means, since he didn't really tell us, is that we should strive to make really good relationships that better us and make us the best we can be. A really good with is like a really good relationship -- you don't always have to be with the person to be with the person. Make sense?

Secondly, Jack said that you don't need to think, you just have to respond. He's a poet, and so you'd think that he creates and thinks of lots of differently things. However, when someone in my class asked him what he does when he can't think of anything, he said that he doesn't think about things. The key to writing poetry was sometimes just responding to the things that you see. You don't need to think of anything when you have a world of things to respond to right outside your door. Sometimes, all you have to do is take a walk so that you can see birds chirping or feel the wind. Then, you can just respond to that instead of actually thinking of something new to write about. Also, he talked about how one poet (whose name I forgot) always started off her readins session by saying that she's "blenderized". I really like that concept. Just the thought that life and emotions are jumbled, and that's just how life is. Every one is like that is some ways, and that's just how it is. We don't have to have our poems just have one emotion because it isn't real. A real poem would have a jumbled mixed of emotions

Thirdly, is not from Jack Ridl. It's from a friend of mine named Jon. We were talking on Saturday, at the forensics competition in our spare time. We were talking about his life and what he was going to do (he's a senior) and everything else that's been going on in his life the past couple of weeks. He said something along the lines of "With another Chloe, there would be too much Chloe, but one Chloe is perfect." That's been on my mind a lot lately. God is so awesome that He knows exactly how much of one person we need. I know that if there were another one of me, I'd get really sick of me (I don't understand how people don't already get sick of me...). You can see God in each person, and exactly how he made them. It's so cool that God knows exactly how much of each person we need and that there is nobody just like us on the world -- and with over 7 billion people on the earth, that's really crazy. God is just so cool.

Stay blenderized!
Carly
